Police force needs dog with bite

Ain't it funny with all the other states planning to eradicate aggressive pets, Sequim, Washington is firing its own drug sniffing K-9, Titus for not being too aggressive? The 4-year old German Shepherd is a professional narcotics sniffing K-9 that had undergone extra training for 640 hours to ride shotgun a narcotics patrol. As a patrol dog, Titus was expected to track suspects, run them down and apprehend them- with biting if need arises.

Thinking out of the box, now that BSL is signed as a law in California , why not import Pit-bull dogs that have are certified good dogs and give them the training to help the police department?

In whole the BSL is there to slowly ease out the breed in a slow-drip extinction plan. Many are doubtful that by removing or limiting this breed (neutering/spaying and prohibition of breeding), biting incidents or pack attacks will cease.

A number of responsible dog owners, especially of the breeds that were mentioned along with the Pit-bull blame greed and irresponsibility as the root of the biting and mauling attacks.

Rehabilitation may not be the right course to go for Pits that have been screened to have bad temperaments, how about the Pits that are even tempered? Wouldn't it be better to put their innate aggressiveness into good use against society's scum?

Sadly, for Titus, his partner of 4 years was the one who recommended the narc dog for re-assignment. Officer Mike Hill, Titus' partner forwarded his recommendation in the interest of the narc-sniffing K-9 unit. The ratio of tracking and apprehended suspects are too low for record, with a heavy heart, Hill suggests a new strategy…Having a more aggressive dog.
